Ever since Steve Jones got the boot as the show’s host, show bigwig Simon Cowell has been on the hunt for a replacement.
According to E!, Darren won’t be joining the show “because of his busy schedule, plus he’d rather spend his time singing and dancing than hosting. A source tells E!, “They were after him. But there’s no way he could have done it with everything he has going on.”
Simon Cowell‘s moved on his from his ex-fiancee Mezhgan Hussainy: With Brazilian businesswoman-socialite Ana Paula Junqueira.
The pair ave been dating for “several months,” Radar reports of the couple, who spent time aboard a yacht in December.
“Simon and Ana are dating, and are very happy,” a source tells Radar. “They have been able to keep their romance low-key. Ana is very much her own accomplished woman, and Simon respects her a great deal for that.”
The source says the relationship is hardly super serious. “They are just enjoying spending time together right now, besides, who says Ana wants to marry him? She has a very successful and fulfilling life.”
Simon Cowell is in the early stages of developing an all-boy band consisting of Americans, reports JustJared.
“Simon is really excited to form a group of guys from America,” a source tells the Web site. “He’s done such a fine job with British boys, so he’s ready to try his hand in America. He’s looking for the right people to team up with and create their sound.”
The X Factor judge’s other bands signed to his Syco label are British group One Direction and the quartet Il Divo.
Sad but true: Simon Cowell was slated to meet with X-Factor honchos on Monday to discuss bringing Whitney Houston on the show as a judge.
“We were ironically going to meet on Monday and of course, one of the names we were going to be talking about in that meeting as a possible mentor on the new series of X Factor was going to be Whitney Houston,” Cowell told CNN’s Piers Morgan Saturday night, just hours after Whitney had died at the Beverly Hilton.
The Hollywood Reporter had reported that Whitney was keen on such a gig, and Cowell echoed that sentiment: “The rumors that had got back to us…and that’s often what happens when people want to be on these shows, somebody tells someone to get the word out, it’s normally a sign that they are interested,” Cowell said.
He added, “Given the choice, I would have liked to have taken her under my wing as well, because she would have been the ultimate, ultimate mentor to any contestant coming on the show.”
