TV: The Colbert Report Suspends Production! And Stephen Colbert Stops Tweeting! What’s Going On?

Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report abruptly canceled two show, prompting widespread speculation about the show’s future.

And no one is saying why.

According to FoxNews.com, host Stephen Colbert‘s show will soon start airing new episodes. In the meantime, previous episodes are airing.

Comedy Central would only say that “due to unforeseen circumstances, the show will air repeat episodes on Wednesday, February 15 and Thursday, February 16.”

And a rep for the network told Fox, “Unfortunately, we’re not providing any details beyond the only official statement.”

Plus, Colbert, who typically updates his own social media, has not updated his Twitter account since Tuesday, prompting fans to speculate there’s an illness involved or some sort of corporate drama.

According to Fox, “The Colbert Report has never suspended taping except to get a playful jab in at Senator John McCain when he suspended his presidential campaign in 2008.”
