Armed guards are now protecting Whitney Houston‘s grave to prevent thieves from stealing the $500,000 in jewelry she was buried in.
“There is a very genuine fear that her coffin will be targeted by grave robbers,” a source tells the U.K.’s Daily Star. “The fact she was buried with such valuable jewelery is just an invitation to sickos.”
Adds the source. “It would be hard for them to actually dig her casket up, but that won’t stop psychotic fans or people who think it could make them money.”
Whitney is buried at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, N.J., a town of about 30,000, located 20 minutes from Newark, where Whitney cut her singing chops at her church, New Hope Baptist Church.
