Whitney Houston‘s daughter Bobbi Kristina wants to shed “Bobbi” from her name, because of its connection to her father Bobby Brown.
Bobbi Kristina has been telling friends she will become “Kristina Houston,” according to TMZ, which also reports that she first pushed to change her name six years ago when her parents separated, but mom Whitney blocked the change.
The root of the 19-year-old’s wrath stems from when her dad left Whitney’s funeral after a disagreement over seating arrangements.
Target has pulled a greeting card from its shelves that reads, “Next time you think of dating the bad boy, consider Whitney Houston” — an obvious reference to Whitney’s ex-husband Bobby Brown.
The retail giant told the Associated Press in a statement that it’s begun “the process of removing the card.”
The statement about the card — which was on sale prior to Whitney’s Feb. 11 death — continued, “It is never our intent to offend guests with the products we offer, and we take feedback from guests very seriously.”
Now the magazine is setting its sights on her daughter, Bobbi Kristina: It’s published a series of still images from a video purported to be taken of Bobbi smoking marijuana from a bong, “partying with college pals at their off-campus apartment in Stateboro, Ga,m in March 2011.”

Bobby Brown has issued a statement explaining why he and his 9-person entourage left Whitney Houston‘s funeral, shortly after they arrived. Why did he leave? The security guards were being a pain!
“My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston. We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions. I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue to ask us and no one else to move. Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi Kristina. In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene. My children are completely distraught over the events. This was a day to honor Whitney. I doubt Whitney would have wanted this to occur. I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how.”
Bobby Brown did indeed attend ex-wife Whitney Houston‘s funeral Saturday in Newark — but jaws dropped when he was spotted leaving at the beginning of the service, shortly after he paid his respect at Whitney’s coffin.
Why the abrupt exit? Bobby, who reportedly had been banned from the service by the Houston family initially, arrived with a nine-person entourage, and wanted everyone to sit together. But he was only granted two additional seats — not 9! Plus, he wanted to sit next to his daughter Bobbi Kristina.
Bobby got into a argument with Whitney’s family, and Rev. Jesse Jackson tried to patch up things, but no dice. So he left.
First there were the reports claiming that Whitney Houston was broke at the time of her death. Now comes word that ex-husband Bobby Brown is also in a dire financial situation.
According to TMZ, “thee family is convinced … Bobby is broke, and he’s making a play for his daughter’s affection to latch on to what could be an estate worth around $20 million, and that figure could double by the end of this year.”
This explains why Cissy Houston has been preventing Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina from seeing her dad, and why Brown is banned from the funeral. Says TMZ: “Cissy is aggressively trying to block Bobby from getting close to 18-year-old Bobbi Kristina, fearing it’s just a ploy to line his pockets.”
Bobby Brown says his daughter Bobbi Kristina is doing much better since her mother’s death on Saturday.
In a statement Wednesday, he said of Bobbi, who was hospitalized twice since her mother’s death, “My daughter Bobbi Kristina is doing much better…We continue to provide love and support to Bobbi Kristina. She is dealing with the tragedy of her mother death and would prefer to do it outside of the public eye. I ask again that our privacy be respected.”
While Extra reports that Bobby Brown is banned from the funeral, Radar is reporting he will attend.
