Check out this video of Nick Carter performing “Falling Down” in NYC Thursday night, two days his sister Leslie Carter died of an apparent drug overdose.
“I’ve never done this before, and I never thought I’d ever have to, but I’d like to dedicate this song to my sister,” Carter told the crowd.
It’s been revealed which pills Leslie Carter was consuming before she died Tuesday of a drug overdose.
The following pills were found near her body: Olanzapine, a drug used to treat bipolar disorder; a muscle relaxer; and Xanax, used to treat anxiety.
Leslie’s stepmom Ginger Carter told police that Leslie had “a long history of mental illness and was on medication for her depression.”
There’s a new twist in the death of Aaron Carter‘s late sister Leslie: She was battling post-partum depression, according to a new report.
“Leslie was depressed,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com of the aspiring singer who has a 10-month old son. “She was battling a major addiction and yes, it was a surprise when she suddenly died. But before anyone even said what caused it, everyone thought the same thing. She battled a prescription drug addiction for a while. Some think that she was even battling from postpartum depression, too.”
As for Leslie’s mental state, the source adds, “Everyone in that family is trying to make it in Hollywood and it caused jealousy and pitted some of them against each other. When Leslie got married, several members of her family didn’t even attend. Close friends definitely find it strange that Nick isn’t taking time off to go be with his family and he’s instead performing in NYC — even though he did dedicate his tour to her. Many think the way the family is handling it is very bizarre.”
An autopsy on Nick Carter‘s sister Leslie was inconclusive, but her family suspects a drug overdose is the culprit.
“There were no visible signs of trauma,” coroner Richard Mackowiak said. “We are awaiting a toxicology report to determine a cause of death … Results of the toxicology test are made public at the discretion of the family.”
But sources tell TMZ Leslie struggled with prescription medication addiction, and they suspect that she may have died of an overdose. Leslie recently moved from Toronto to nearby upstate New York so she can be closer to family and beat her addiction.
Leslie, who died Tuesday at 25, leaves behind her husband Mike and her daughter Alyssa Jane, who was born in April 2011.
Aaron Carter has broken his silence about the death of his sister Leslie.
“I am with my family spending much-needed time together as we deal with this private matter,” Aaron said in a statement. He will also not be performing for the time being in his off-Broadway show.
“I look forward to returning to my Fantasticks Family and performing the role of ‘Matt’ for all my amazing fans,” he said. “I request privacy for my family and no further statements will be made at this time.”
